I’m Leigh Mason, the creative mind behind the brand, and I’m here to invite you on a journey of empowerment, positivity, and self-love through the art of accessorising.
I’ve always adored making things, upcycling and personalising things which at one point in my rebellious early teens included ‘highlighting’ my hair with felt tip pens , something that the nuns at the convent I attended took a very dim view of!
I was captivated by the world of design – the endless possibilities, the vibrant colours, the sheer joy of creation. Sparkly baubles, bold hues, neon accents – they’ve always held a special place in my heart, inspiring me to translate my love for art into wearable accessories.
But as I searched for ‘off the shelf’ pieces that reflected my unique style and personality, I found myself disappointed.
In 2000, following a significant life transition – my divorce – I found myself at a crossroads. It was then that I turned to art as a form of therapy, pouring my heart and soul into every creation. I was incredibly lucky to be accepted by Rugby Art College on a mature foundation art degree with a fully funded place in the nursery for my 2 yr old son. That was undoubtedly one of the best things to ever happen to me.
My educational journey took me to Coventry University, and then Plymouth School of Art, where I refined my skills and cultivated my passion for self-expression
Using a wide range of techniques and materials including resin, precious metal clay, gemstones, and the lost wax casting process, I create wearable works of art that radiate with positivity and confidence. Whilst every design is unique, I understand the importance of finding pieces that resonate with your personal style. That’s why I offer the option to recreate past favourites, ensuring that your chosen accessory reflects the essence of who you are
These days I work from my studio at home in Plymouth, Devon with my trusty crew of feline studio assistants which includes Moses, the cotton bud thief, and Dolly P and six gorgeous fur bubs.
But Viva La Diva UK is more than just a brand – it’s a movement.
It’s about celebrating your journey, embracing your flaws, and wearing your confidence like a badge of honour.
